Moisturising Your Beard: Yes, But How?

Having a beautiful beard is everyone's dream. But for that, it is not enough to simply let it grow. A beautiful beard needs to be well trimmed and clean. It needs regular maintenance to be shiny and soft. For this, it is necessary to moisturise your beard by providing it with the care that will nourish your hair. Here are our tips for moisturising your beard.

Moisturising your beard: yes, but why?

Moisturising your beard is not a crazy idea, quite the opposite. Have you ever heard that having a beard is itchy? This is indeed true, but only if you don't take care of it! The more the beard hair grows, the stiffer it tends to become.

The result: an unattractive beard with dull, rough hair and itching! Added to this is the fact that the longer your beard is, the more it covers the skin on your face. Your skin then tends to become dry and tight. If you also have dry skin, this can lead to dandruff or dead skin, which can be even more unpleasant.

In short, the more the hair grows, the more it needs to be moisturised to avoid all these inconveniences. In addition, giving your beard nourishing and moisturising care will allow for healthy and robust hair growth. So, if you want a healthy beard that grows well and doesn't itch, there's only one thing to do: moisturise.

A healthy beard is a well-moisturized beard

Taking care of your skin and beard on a daily basis is essential for a well-moisturized skin and beard. Indeed, if your facial skin is well nourished, your beard hair will grow better. But you also have to take care of them with moisturizing treatments. Yes, but how do you moisturise your beard? Quite simply by using products adapted to your fleece, such as beard oil or beard balm.

Beard oil

Beard oil is the ideal product to nourish, soften and moisturise your beard, but also your skin. Beard oil should preferably be organic and made from natural vegetable oils. Among them, we find argan oil, jojoba oil, sesame oil... These oils, rich in vitamins and minerals, provide everything that the skin and the beard need to be moisturized and nourished.

To apply a beard oil, you only need a few seconds. So it would be a shame to miss out. Simply pour a few drops of beard oil into the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and then apply the oil to the beard, massaging it gently into the hairline.

Beard balm

Like beard oil, beard balm is made of vegetables and essential oils. Its solid appearance is due to the presence of wax, such as beeswax or shea butter. The beard balm fulfils the same functions as beard oil: it will moisturise and nourish your beard. Its texture will also allow you to style your beard.

In terms of use, its application is as simple as that of beard oil. Take a small amount of balm, rub your hands together to heat the balm and make it more liquid, then apply by gently massaging your beard.

When to apply your beard oil or balm?

Ideally, you should apply your beard oil or beard balm after a shower, in the morning or evening. This is because the pores of the skin and the hair follicles are open, which allows for better absorption of the moisturising product. This application should be done every day to maintain good hydration of the skin and hair.

Cleaning: a step not to be neglected

Applying moisturising products is essential to keep your beard well hydrated and nourished. But all this care will be of no use if you do not regularly clean your skin and your beard. In fact, your beard needs to be thoroughly cleaned to stay clean and healthy. Need to be convinced? Think of all the aggressions that a beard undergoes every day: pollution, sweat, food residues, cigarette smoke, cooking smells...

To clean your beard properly, use beard wash and conditioner products adapted to your coat, such as beard shampoos. These shampoos, composed of a mixture of natural oils such as argan oil or olive oil and essential oils, will allow deep and gentle cleaning of your beard without drying it out or causing feelings of tightness.
